By Week three I was so far behind with Christmas prep (due to general apathy caused by poorlyness) that I gave up the idea of blogging and tried to focus my creative thinking on the tricky business of buying lovely presents for my friends and family.
Christmas day was fairly quiet for us with only six at our house for Christmas Dinner. But from then on increasing numbers of family and friends gathered on various occasions. Each of which required mopping of the white kitchen floor which I don't enjoy, and food prep which I do enjoy.
All of Matthew and Al's cousins were up north between Christmas and New Year so I bit the bullet and had six of them round for a sleep-over one night. It went remarkably well - the Cookie and Elliott kids are fairly good at entertaining each other these days.
I have to admit to falling asleep during the family trip out to Alvin and the Chipmunks - the sqeakquel. I woke up thinking I was back in bed and the sleep-over was getting out of hand. If the Cinema hadn't been so cold think I would have slept right to the end.
We had a pleasant New Year's Eve with family and a few friends - but I did miss being at Church with a bigger bunch of folks.
A grown ups only trip to see Sherlock Holmes on New Years day compensated for the Chipmunk experience.
Thankfully, Everton managed to beat Carlisle in the FA cup on Jan 2nd, so Kev, his Dad and brothers had a great time on one of their rare trips to Goodison. The ladies had a good time out grabbing bargains from the the Charity Shops of Woolton. And because "the toffees" did so well, we all had a pleasant eve re-living the highs of both the match and the retail therapy.
Of course if Everton hadn't won it wouldn't have mattered - it's only a game. Isn't it?
